NSEAA Information Page

Do you enjoy reading or learning about the latest developments in astronomy or space exploration?  Are you interested in learning more about telescopes or observing the night sky or sharing your knowledge in these areas with others; then why not join us at our local astronomy club?

The North Shore Erie Amateur Astronomers (NSEAA) club is an organization dedicated to those with interests in astronomy.  We serve the general geographic area of Norfolk County between Hamilton and London, Ontario, Canada on the north shore of Lake Erie.

Visitors and Guests always Welcome

We usually have a presentation by club members, or sometimes by guests, on a topic of interest to amateur astronomers.  There may also be a short talk on objects worth observing in a particular constellation, or else a talk on practical aspects of observing and equipment.  There is always time for club members to talk about what they have seen or read about in the last month.

Our meetings are held here.

Meetings

We meet at 7:30 p.m. on the First Friday of each month, except December, June, July, and August, at the NACL building (Norfolk Association of Community Living) in Simcoe, Ontario so it is convenient to most members. It has excellent audio-visual facilities.

The NACL building is easy to find. It is at 644 Ireland Road in Simcoe. The building is just south of Fanshawe College which is also on Ireland Road. If you're not sure of directions, just call Greg at (519) 443-7631.

Events
In conjunction with the Norfolk County Community Services Division, we have two free public star parties each year. One is usually in April, the other in September. During these nights, members share views through their equipment or give observing tips with the public. Each summer some of us attend star parties in Ontario and beyond.  These include Starfest near Mount Forest and Huronia near Collingwood, Ontario.

A key focus of our club is sharing information about astronomy, we encourage and support members in providing special presentations to schools or to community groups such as Seniors, Boy Scouts or Girl Guides. For those who do not have a telescope, members are encouraged to borrow one of the Club's telescopes.

Publications

Our quarterly newsletter, The Stargazer, keeps you informed about our activities and topics of interest. It is emailed as a pdf file

Membership

Family membership in our club is open to anyone with an interest in astronomy.  The fee is $25.00 per year. Younger children are welcome but they must be accompanied by an adult.
